Don't Underestimate Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14)

When a woman, who was recovering from a stroke, fell down in the bathroom and seriously injured her hip. Her 3-year-old girl dialed 911 and was able to speak clearly about what her mom needed. As a result, her mom was rescued. When mom expressed how very proud she was of her girl, little Chehala added, "I love her so much." You can read the story at KUTV !

Unfortunately, not all dispatchers took kids seriously. In April 2006, a lawsuit was filed against the 911 operation by the family of another little kid. When his mom passed out, the 5-year-old boy dialed 911 and asked for help. During the 911 call, the dispatcher told him, "You shouldn’t be playing on the phone... Now put her on the phone before I send police out there to knock on the door... and you gonna be in trouble." You can read this at the WXYZ local news.

Better safe than sorry! Don't underestimate the calls for help by kids.

Unconditional Love of a Heroic Father

I have been tracking the news of James Kim, a Bay Area man who was missing in the wilderness of Oregon after Thanksgiving. Kim and his wife and two young daughters (age 4 years old and 7 months old) were lost after visiting family in Oregon.

Today Kim was found dead. Many people at home and work (CNET) will miss him. His daughters will grow up knowing that he died trying to save them. One person called this unconditional love. What do you think?

"
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:7-8)
