A Heroic Professor

Among the dead of VA Tech massacre, there was a 77-year-old professor who was killed by the shooter while trying to hold a door shut so that some of his engineering students could escape.

In the middle of his lecture, they heard screams and a loud banging sound from the next-door classroom. They realized there were gunshots. Some students hid behind tables. Some students jumped from the window. But their professor ran to the door to block it with his body to prevent the gunman from entering his class. His heroic act saved some lives.

Professor Liviu Librescuis was a citizen of Israel and a Holocaust survivor. He had experienced evil, yet he chose to do what is good.

"Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong" (Psalm 37:1)

VA Tech Massacre

This morning and early afternoon, my husband and I attended the grandopening of the new offices of Herald's Cancer Care Ministry and Restaurant Ministry in Milpitas. The testimonies were touching. Having a place called their own was something to celebrate about. Hopefully, they can minister to more people in need.

We then visited my mother-in-law in the City. She was doing well and the rush hour traffic home was not too bad. All in all, it was a great day, until I turned on the TV to watch some news.

"WHAT?" was all I could say. There was a shooting, a massacre at Virginia Tech. Many students and teachers were killed. The unidentified gunman killed himself. I am stunned. This is the worst ever shooting in school in United States history. Who could do such an evil thing?

I was overwhelmed with emotions when I watched some horrified college students recounting their ordeals. Their parents sent them to VA Tech to get a college education. Now their lives are filled with terror!

"You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life. In the morning you will say, 'If only it were evening!' and in the evening, 'If only it were morning!'-because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see." (Deuteronomy 28:66-67),

Common Morning Sickness or Hyperemesis?

Someone women lost weights during their pregnancy because they could not hold down any food. Although it may just be common morning sickness, it could also be a disease called hyperemesis.

I only heard about hyperemesis second-handed. I don't want to alarm people unnecessarily but here are some articles I found on-line. Click to read them one by one, article 1, article 2, and article 3. I hope the info may save someone.

Pregnant woman and baby have strong nutritional needs. If the expecting mother's condition is severe, don't take it lightly. Don't delay diagnosis and treatment.
